Press “RESET”

Today is the first day of LENT, and it’s time to give up some bad habits and prepare our souls & make our hearts ready. It’s a time of the year that is synonymous with preparation for renewal. It is also a perfect time to not only prepare our souls & ready our hearts, but to prepare our physical bodies as well.

Many of us had goals in mind when the new year began, but were somehow swayed off course, and failed in the attempt to achieve the goals. Now is the time to press ‘RESET.” It is time to put the excuses aside, and sharpen our minds for the task at hand. The beautiful thing about the Lenten season, is that it can be a combined effort, joining our physical improvement, our spiritual growth,  our renewal of purpose, & our sharpening of mental discipline.

When we have a goal, we must have the desire to change and break out of our comfort zone. If we do not have the will & desire, nothing will change, and stagnation will keep us at the same place. One thing that I have discovered in my years of working with people & their goals, is that very few are willing to set out on the journey alone. It is often overwhelming to consider the vast world ahead, without the support of others. During Lent, we are not only abstaining, praying, fasting, and almsgiving just for ourselves individually, but also, and more importantly we are doing it for, and with, the Lord. He is there to guide us, together, many as one, achieving what we set out to do. He loves us each individually, but He knows that we all need support at times. Mother Angelica once said, “You want to do something for the Lord?…DO IT. Whatever you feel needs to be done, even though you’re shaking in your boots, you’re scared to death–take the first step forward. The grace comes with that one step, and you get the grace as you step.” Mother left us last Easter to join the Lord, and it’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year already, but her mission still continues. So, let’s each support each other and take one step at a time to realize, to repent, to refocus, to renew, to replenish, & to RESET our minds, our bodies, our hearts, & our souls.

Have a strong & wonderful Lent.
