The Theory Of Remedivity: Staying Positive In A Negative World

Negativity. It’s all around us. Each day, we hear of terrible occurrences. How does one deflect it? It’s not easy. I, for one have felt myself withdraw more and more from modern society’s path. I haven’t watched the news in over two years. I simply made a decision to turn it off, completely. I thought, “What’s the sense?” Even without seeing the news, I still hear what is happening, and it’s not pleasing. We’re in the 21st Century, and as usual, human beings are making the same mistakes, just at a more rapid pace. Some find it discouraging, some find it unbearable, (and still, some are unaware,…the old ‘ignorance is bliss’ adage.)

There are ways of staying positive throughout this technological and social upheaval. I am asked frequently how I personally stay positive. The following are some of the ways, (or remedies,) that I employ to keep positivity overpowering the negative bombardment of the outside world:

  1. PRAYER

I pray every day. First & foremost, direct communication with God keeps me on the positive path. I am blessed to have family & friends to converse with about any concern, and they intern have me to converse with as well. For those who do not have a strong family or friend structure of support in their lives, it is important to know that God is always available to hear your feelings, your sufferings, & also your joys & thanksgivings. You are never alone. “Ask, and you shall receive, knock, & the door shall be opened.”

2. COMMUNICATION

As human beings, we may at times feel isolated, and we have a human need for reaching out and communicating our feelings and thoughts. I wouldn’t suggest confiding in every stranger that you meet, but sometimes having a good friend or a family member to talk to is just the thing to help us to stay positive, or to have someone’s thoughts and opinions who may see something differently. Even just the listening to of your concerns & thoughts is a comforting and positive feeling. Everyone needs this, and personal communication at times, is crucial to minimize negativity and maximize positivity.

3. QUIET REFLECTION

When we quiet our minds, we often see things differently. Sometimes, all that is needed is just a break from it all. Some nice music, a good walk outside, a secluded spot on the beach, a good workout, or even just a good few minutes to read can have a profound effect on how we feel. This also means disconnecting from the gadgets. On Saturday after 12 noon until Monday morning, I totally disconnect from technology. I focus on what is truly important, and that’s time devoted to my family & friends. It takes discipline, but everyone can do it if they wish to find the time for quiet reflection.

4. MOTIVATIONAL QUOTATIONS

Those of you who know me well, know that I begin my day & your day with motivational quotations that have inspired me. This sets the coarse of the day. It gives us direction & a positive affirmation to begin each day. I have collected many over the years, and I’m glad that everyone seems to enjoy them. Sometimes, the right quote at the right time really helps someone, and that is a fulfilling feeling for me.

5. HELPING OTHERS

We live amongst material possessions that sometimes dominate our thoughts and passions. Developing a direction to help others, enforces humility in us, which, in turn helps us to be less self-centered and more selfless. It is probably the most internally positive feeling next to love that a human being can experience. Whether its giving to the poor, volunteering time for others’ needs, rescuing people and animals, raising & teaching children, or protecting others, all types of help are needed and connect us to one another in a way that fulfills us and enhances our positive outlook, as well as the hearts of those we help. I am truly blessed to be in a position to help others to actively achieve their goals, as well as improve their health and longevity.

So, chin up! Let’s stay positive and continue to rise above the negativity of this world. Focus on what truly matters, love yourself & your family & friends, and tell them often that you do. Treat yourself & others with dignity, express yourself calmly, earn respect with integrity, and reenforce your daily existence with positive avenues. These are my personal avenues, and I hope that reflection upon them may help you to direct more positivity to your lives.
